Llama 5 is Meta’s 2026 open-source flagship, available for free under Meta’s community license and self-hostable on appropriate hardware. It has the largest ecosystem of community fine-tunes, adapters, and tooling of any model family in 2026, making it the default starting point for teams building custom AI applications. Available via Hugging Face, Meta’s own API, and major cloud providers. Ideal when data privacy, on-prem deployment, or deep customization are requirements.
